Summer has come and gone much faster than I thought it would. It started off busy with the visit of my sister and her family. It was a great visit as we took them all around town, showing them the sights of the Richmond area. We hung out on the rocks and waded in the James River, explored the waterfall and beautiful grounds of Maymont Park, shopped in Cary Town, spent the day at Kings Dominion and the water park, took a day trip to the beach, and explored the very busy D.C.
Shortly after that visit we had a visit from Sunshine and Glory's aunt and Abuelos which was also full of tours and sightseeing. Another trip to D.C. It's hard to come this close to D.C. and not take a tour.
Our visits were good, fun, busy, the weather wasn't too hot, and we were thankful to see some of those we love.
The remainder of the summer was spent at the water park, ( our personal playground), a trip to Hershey PA and MD, a couple of day trips to Charlottesville and anything else we could sneak in.
Of course no summer is complete in this area without an earthquake and hurricane. That's right earthquake! What in the world??? But we had one. 5.8 and that was followed by several aftershocks. Then of course the hurricane which consisted of a full day of rain and high winds that I just knew were going to cause one or more of the many incredibly tall trees in our backyard to fall on this, my favorite, house. Thankfully, they only swayed and blew just enough to scare me.
So now school is almost ready to begin and now we have to get back to our regular routines. We'll have to save our lazy mornings, restaurant lunches, errands, mall hopping, HGTV viewing and quiet times for the weekends. ( I love our summers)
