A Little Bit of Background

I was inspired to start a blog by a good friend who has one, and when she moved out of state, I realized how much I enjoyed reading hers as a way of staying connected. I thought it would be a good idea to help our loved ones stay better connected as well. I love the idea of documenting what goes on on a daily or weekly basis, and because I don't have the ability to remember every little detail, this will be one way to remember the little things as well as the big.

Sunshine is 10 and in 4th grade at a public charter school. She loves school. She could go to school most everyday with a break only now and then. She thrives on people, and loves to keep busy. I can't always keep up with her. You see, I like to be around people too, but not
ALL The Time. Like she does. Sunshine is an amazing student. She makes terrific grades and learning seems to come easy to her. She takes piano lessons ( not crazy about practicing, there's too many other things to do) and is playing very well. She will have a recital in May. She likes to read, play with friends, go places, play with friends, and well....play with friends. And play with her sister, of course.

Glory is 6 and in 1st grade. She goes to a charter school as well, and likes school just fine. But she would really like to be a 3 day kid instead of 5. "Why do we have to go to school
every day?" She does very well in school and makes excellent grades, but enjoys her breaks and being home. She's reading very well and loves to see her friends each day. Glory takes ballet and is doing pretty good. She'll have a recital very soon where she can show off what she's learned. That will be fun since she doesn't really dance for us at home. Glory seems to have inherited her dad's ability to draw. She can look at something and the next thing you know, it'll be on paper. Drawing is probably her favorite past time, other than playing with the neighborhood friends and her sister. She also has a talent for remembering the funny lines from a movie or TV show. While they don't watch a lot of TV, you'd think she did by the way she picks up on the one liners. She's a funny, silly, girl full of life and everything good.

We have an almost 2 yr. old pointer, lab, beagle mix dog named Lucy who we adopted about a year ago. She's silly, playful, crazy, sweet, and an all around good dog. She loves to chew and gnaw on most any kid of wood and anything else she finds interesting. In fact not 10 minutes ago she chewed up a nerf football that was left outside. The girls are not big on football, but it's a ball and they will throw most any ball. (so much for the nerf, and sorry to Daddy) Anyway, Lucy is starting to settle down a little from her puppy days, and when she is settled, she will be an amazing, gentle dog, I'm sure.

My husband is in architecture and development for a well known , kid friendly, fast food restaurant. (Let's just say, "I'm Lovin' It"). He does something in the way of design and management. I'm not sure what, but he goes to work everyday and seems to like it.

I have been teaching preschool for 4 years. I teach 2 yr. olds which is always fun, rewarding, and challenging. I like it very much and it works well for our schedule. I have all the regular school breaks and I work until 1 pm. so I can still be there for the girls. It's really a pretty good gig. Of course my most rewarding, and most loved job is raising our girls. Not only is it the best job, it's the most challenging. But I'm learning, and maybe I'll have mastered it by the time I'm a grandmother.
I've been very blessed to spend so much time with my daughters because after they were born, I stayed home with them until Glory was 3. (Sunshine was in 1st grade) Even then, Glory was with me because I began teaching at her preschool. My point is........I have been with them so much but still don't remember everything like I would like to. So......... a blog is the answer.
